i had a curry there last night, and i have to say the service was fantastic,
the food was just right - and the waiter kindly offered me an extra dish because i was not used to spicy dish i chose.
11/10.

Ref that comment below - East2East was empty last time i visited and i got a pile of frozen veg in my curry- yuk,.
as for al bilal - i have raved about this place in the past and despite the health and safety shutdown I had never had a bad meal in about 8 years. Sadly, in the last few months the place has emptied, theyve mixed in thai food too and have completely lost the plot. they used to do the best crispiest poppodums on the curry mile but sadly they taste stale as hell these days. I ended up on this site looking for a new place to dine which is a shame because Al bilal had my business once a week at their peak.

Crap, don't bother. Food is bland, overpriced, and the waiters ask you for a tip at the end - needless to say they didn't get one. Rusholme is a tourist trap, and they get away with murder (King Cobra, Al Bilal, Shere Khan were all closed down for serious H&S breaches for a while)
Get yourself down to EastZEast at the bottom of Princess St for a far better experience

Two experiences in Al Bilal - One was fantastic service and great food (maybe being a cynic but we went after a good win and ordered champagne)
Second visit there was no such lavish spending and the service was quick but rude, and the portions were small and generally very mediocre.
The main benefit is that it is open later than most of the places.. if my experience was like the first time everytime round then it would be one of he best on the mile..but if it was like the 2nd time round then it would be below average.

I am 48 years old, and have been going to Rusholme now for over 30 years, in that time I have sampled the vast majority of the Restaurants, and the Al Bilal for me is head and shoulders above the rest, in all aspects, service, food, atmosphere etc, I have been going there now for about 10 years, and never had a bad meal or experience, quite the opposite a good meal and good banter with the always helpful waiters.

went here last wednesday with my partner.was recommended it by friends.my partner had king prawn madras prawns were slightly overcooked but the madras sauce was lovely.i had muglai chicken which i get often when im out but obviously they dont know how to cook this in this restraunt,.,it looked as if a dog had just been sick on my plate.its not put us off the curry mile ,we just wont go back to this one.

We had an excellent meal at Al Bilal, the four of us found the level of service exceptional and when we required advice about the dishes we were given top class info, especially about the levels of heat from the various dishes we wanted. Top class restaurant. If you visit, ask for Mudasar he will serve you well and give great advice.

Al Bilal is definitely one of the best curry houses in Rusholme in terms of food and service. They always serve with a smile and their Chana Dal is my interpretation of comfort food. If nothing more, where else would you find the waiters carrying a little note book of jokes around with them to entertain the customers?

Food was fairly good and the service was good. The Cypriot waiter kept use amused later on with his jokes (some were good but some were so bad we were laughing for the wrong reasons).
Will be visiting again.

The food quality here was excellent. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal with the only complaint being that the service was a little slow. Some of the staff were very helpful and friendly, others were not.
The Chicken Tika Keema Lazeez is highly recommended.
